We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for improving public health and wellbeing to join our Healthy Places team. The link between good health, and wellbeing has a strong evidence base and this post will be at the forefront of assisting in the delivery of sustainable and innovative approaches to provide the right conditions for residents to walk more and lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
The post-holder will work with communities, various council departments and external partners to implement and deliver a programme to boost the number of people walking within the Woodlands and Highfields communities as well as supporting the Active Travel Social Prescribing pilot, Ride, Stride and Thrive in Bentley.
Due to the nature of the role, the post-holder will have a base at Woodlands Community Library and will work some of their time at the library, as well as at the points of delivery across Woodlands, Highfields and Bentley, and the Civic Office.
The role will include a variety of tasks in relation to the implementation of both the programme and the pilot, therefore the post-holder will be comfortable working in an agile, responsive and flexible way. Due to the nature of project there may be a requirement to deliver early evening walks during British Summer time (March to October).
Key elements of the post will be to:
Support the implementation of the walking elements of the Woodlands and Highfields Walking, Wheeling and Cycling Masterplan by developing local walking interventions across the Woodlands and Highfields footprint. This includes, but is not limited to, developing, promoting and delivering of a range of local walks, planning routes to create a series of walking maps and supporting residents to design of their own personalised travel plans.
Support residents by facilitating motivational conversations to encourage behaviour change.
Proactively engage with stakeholders, e.g. GPs, community groups and workplaces to promote walking by developing and maintaining regular communication and working in collaboration to share knowledge.
Support the delivery of the walking element of the Ride, Stride and Thrive, the Active Travel Social Prescribing pilot, in Bentley.
Support other areas across the Healthy Places Team portfolio when required.
