Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Bank/Locum Pharmacist to join our team on a temporary basis to provide cover for temporary staffing gaps within the pharmacy service. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines across our inpatient services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified pharmacist to gain or expand experience in a supportive and dynamic healthcare environment. While experience in mental health services is desirable, it is not essential as full on-site training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities

Clinical verification of prescribed medications to ensure safety, efficacy, and appropriateness. Provide expert clinical pharmacy advice to the MDT. Counsel patients and their families/carers on all aspects of medicines use, including side effects, adherence, and discharge planning. Support the supply of medicines for patient leave and discharge. Contribute to the development of evidence-based treatment plans to support timely and successful discharge. Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings as required. Ensure compliance with legal, professional, and local policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience Required

Essential: Valid registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience as a pharmacist. Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development. Desirable: Experience working within mental health services. Familiarity with electronic prescribing systems and clinical documentation.
Additional Information

This post is offered on a bank/locum basis to provide flexible support during a period of temporary staffing gaps. On-site training and support will be provided to ensure the post holder is confident and competent in their role.

Pay: 43,796.98-52,624.69 per year
