to oversee the daily operations of our pharmacy at
Middleport Pharmacy
. This role is a mix of management, patient care, and service delivery, where you will ensure that high standards of dispensing, advice, and pharmacy services are maintained. As a Pharmacist Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the pharmacy's operations and delivering NHS services, while also supporting a team of pharmacy professionals to provide excellent care to our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispensing & Medicines Supply:
Accurately dispense prescription medications while checking for interactions, dosage errors, and contraindications.
Ensure legal and clinical accuracy of all prescriptions.
Provide expert advice on medication use to patients and customers.
Patient Counselling & Support:
Offer clear, professional advice on the safe and effective use of medicines.
Counsel patients on potential side effects, medication adherence, and lifestyle adjustments to support treatment plans.
Guide patients regarding over-the-counter (OTC) treatments and self-care options.
Clinical Services Delivery:
Lead the delivery of NHS services such as:
Pharmacy First
: Treatment of common minor ailments without the need for a GP appointment.
New Medicine Service (NMS)
: Support patients who have newly prescribed medicines for long-term conditions.
Discharge Medicines Service (DMS)
: Support patients upon discharge from hospital with their prescribed medications.
Conduct health screenings, such as
blood pressure checks
.
Support public health initiatives like smoking cessation, COVID-19, and
flu vaccinations
.
Inventory & Stock Management:
Oversee the safe ordering, storage, and management of medicines.
Regularly check stock for expiry dates and ensure compliance with cold chain and controlled drug protocols.
Maintain an efficient inventory system to prevent shortages or excess stock.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance:
Ensure all pharmacy activities comply with
GPhC
,
NHS regulations
, and other relevant legislation.
Maintain accurate records, such as controlled drug registers and private prescriptions.
Report any adverse drug reactions or near misses through the
Yellow Card Scheme
.
Teamwork & Collaboration:
Lead and mentor pharmacy technicians and support staff, fostering a supportive and productive work environment.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the continuity and effectiveness of patient care.
Contribute to the ongoing review of
SOPs
, quality improvement initiatives, and pharmacy audits.
Working Hours:
Monday to Wednesday/Thursday:
9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
(Flexible hours available depending on part-time or full-time preference)*
Qualifications
M Pharm(Pharm.D.) degree
Valid pharmacist license with the GPHC
Strong patient care skills and experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team
