Due to the recent recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Brixton in London.
Since April 2025, HMP Brixton is now a Category B male prison housing men on remand. Our patients needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.
You will be a key member of our team as the sole Pharmacy Assistant, working alongside a team of 10 Pharmacy Technicians and 2 Pharmacists.
Hours
37.5 hours per week (full time)
0830 - 1700 Monday to Friday only. Bank hours are also available.
Salary
24,169 - 29,029 depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
Be working as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing based clinical areas
Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of return
Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.

Qualifications required
NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards
Medicines handing experience desirable not essential
Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
Excellent communication skills
Good IT skills and IT literacy
Ability to work within a busy environment
Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
