We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Winchester name, a category B Prison located in Winchester. HMP Winchester is a male prison with a capacity for 690 inmates. We are recruiting for a pharmacy Assistant to support the wider pharmacy team with tasks such as witnessing second checking, stock checking, invoicing etc. This will be a patient facing role and you will need to be on the wings occasionally.
Hours 4 days a week 07:30-17:30 Currently there will be no weekend working however this will change in the future to a 7 day operation where you will need to work weekends, bank holidays and over the Christmas period on a rota basis. Salary
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to 29,723 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
• Be working as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
• Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
• Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing based clinical areas
• Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of return
• Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.

• NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards
• Medicines handing experience desirable not essential
• Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
• Excellent communication skills
• Good IT skills and IT literacy
• Ability to work within a busy environment
• Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
