Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
Pharmacy Dispenser
to support the day-to-day operations of our online dispensary. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and dispensing prescriptions accurately, managing stock, supporting the pharmacist, and ensuring the smooth running of the dispensary. This is a non-patient-facing role ideal for someone comfortable working in a structured, technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Dispensing & Prescription Processing
Accurately prepare, label, and package private prescriptions.
Dispense items in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and legal requirements.
Process online orders through the pharmacy's digital platform, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Ensure timely dispatch of orders, maintaining service standards.
Dispensary Operations
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant dispensary.
Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and support with ordering and stock rotation.
Perform regular audits and compliance checks as required.
Support the pharmacist with tasks relating to clinical governance and record keeping.
Administrative & Digital Tasks
Use pharmacy dispensing software to manage prescriptions, patient records, and orders.
Assist with patient safety and compliance logs.
Support with packing and shipping processes as needed.
Respond to internal team queries related to prescription status or stock availability.
Compliance & Safety
Adhere strictly to GPhC guidelines, and the pharmacy's SOPs.
Report near misses, incidents, and ensure corrective actions are followed.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Requirements
Essential:
NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
Previous experience in a pharmacy dispensary environment.
Strong IT skills and familiarity with digital systems.
High attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a small team.
Desirable:
Experience working in an online pharmacy or with online dispensing systems.
Knowledge of NHS prescription processing and private prescribing services.
Understanding of pharmacy regulations including GPhC standards.
