Job Description


To accurately dispense clinically checked prescriptions against the relevant prescription documentation, referring any areas of doubt promptly to the ACT or duty Responsible Pharmacist To contribute to responsibility for the ordering and management of all medicines within KCHFT, working collaboratively together with the ACTs, the other dispensing assistants and under the guidance of the pharmacy manager To identify potential problems in the administration of medicines such as medicine interactions, newly prescribed drugs, physical factors that could affect patient compliance etc. To contribute to the development and maintenance of a high quality and timely outpatient service for patients. To contribute to the safe and accurate issue of completed dispensed prescriptions to patients To contribute to the maintenance of complete and accurate patient medication records for all supplies from the pharmacy To work collaboratively with the ACTs and other dispensing assistants to get the most from pharmacy automation
Main duties of the job
Understands basic community pharmacy dispensing legislation and professional guidance relating to management of medicines . Understands and can use the Drug Tariff, and other common reference sources like Martindale, MIMS etc. Methodical and accurate approach to practical tasks, Can maintain concentration over long periods Prioritisation, and the employment of good time management Knows own limits and when therefore to refer to a pharmacist or manager Use Key board skills, including PMR applications Self-motivated able to organise and prioritise own work within operating procedures with limited supervision Trustworthy and able to always maintain patient confidentiality Employ good interpersonal and communication skills with work colleagues and with customers Deal with difficult, angry, annoyed patients and/or healthcare colleagues Work effectively with other disciplines.

Your Role:
As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you will work under the supervision of the Responsible Pharmacist to support the safe and efficient preparation, supply, and management of medicines. You'll provide advice to patients on medication use and general health, contributing to a high-quality, patient-focused pharmacy service.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispensing & Supply: Accurately dispense clinically checked prescriptions and ensure timely, safe supply of medications.
  • Patient Support: Provide advice on medicines and general health within your capability, promoting patient safety and well-being.
  • Stock Management: Assist with ordering, receiving, and storing medications, ensuring accurate record-keeping and stock control.
  • Controlled Drugs: Support the safe handling, auditing, and management of controlled drugs in line with SOPs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with pharmacy colleagues, clinicians, and patients to ensure an efficient and seamless service.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to maintaining and improving dispensary processes and support the training of new team members.
What Were Looking For:
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a community pharmacy or similar setting.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of community pharmacy dispensing legislation, drug tariffs, and common reference sources.
  • Skills: Accurate, methodical, and able to work with focus and efficiency. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
