A dispenser is a key part of the pharmacy team who works alongside Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to deliver all aspects of the care provided in a Community Pharmacy.
Across the team we have a mix of qualified dispensers and those still undertaking their training. For those wishing to apply who are new to dispensing, full training will be provided.
The main duties of a dispenser include:
a. Preparing and assembling prescription medicines
b. Responding to queries and questions from patients (face to face or by telephone)
c. Managing stock levels and maintaining appropriate records
d. Supporting the wider pharmacy team to deliver care to patients and customers
Must have skills:
1. Have a keen interest in healthcare and helping patients
2. Happy to be working as part of a team
3. Have good attention to detail and work in a methodical manner
4. Excellent communication skills and customer facing experience
5. Should be comfortable working with basic IT systems
Future Career Path
After qualifying as dispenser, there are further opportunities available. These may include becoming a registered professional by completing a Pharmacy Technician course or futher training to become an Accuracy Checking Technician (or ACT).
