Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dispensing Assistant to join our team in East Kilbride. In this role, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services to our community. You will play a key part in ensuring that medications are dispensed safely and efficiently while providing excellent customer service and adhering to all regulatory and legal guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Medication Dispensing: Assist in the accurate preparation, labelling, and dispensing of prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

- Stock Management: Help manage stock levels by checking deliveries, ensuring proper storage, and updating inventory records.

- Patient Interaction: Provide courteous service to patients, answer basic queries, and direct more complex questions to the pharmacist.

- Compliance: Adhere strictly to legal and regulatory requirements, including confidentiality standards, health and safety policies, and good practice guidelines in pharmacy operations.

- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records, process transactions, and assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and phone enquiries.

- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all dispensing areas are clean, organized, and meet the standards set by the pharmacy.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

- Experience: Dispensing qualification is preferred, otherwise the successful candidate will receive full training.

- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in handling prescriptions, medication labels, and records.

- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.

- Organisational Skills: Strong ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

- IT Literacy: Competence with standard office software and pharmacy management systems - we use Analyst PMR systems

- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of pharmacy law and ethical guidelines as applicable in Scotland.
