The Pharmacy Dispenser plays a crucial role in the healthcare system, ensuring that patients receive their medications accurately and efficiently. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to providing excellent patient care and has a strong understanding of pharmacy operations. The Pharmacy Dispenser will work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to support medication administration and enhance patient outcomes.
Duties
Accurately dispense medications as per prescriptions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Assist in the preparation of medication orders, including labelling and packaging.
Provide information to patients regarding their medications, including usage, side effects, and storage instructions.
Maintain accurate records of prescriptions dispensed and ensure proper documentation is completed.
Collaborate with pharmacists to manage inventory levels, including ordering and restocking medications as necessary.
Support the pharmacy team in maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
Participate in patient care initiatives, contributing to the overall health and wellbeing of patients.
Skills
Strong background in patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards patients' needs.
Previous experience as a Dispenser/dispensing assistant is highly desirable, showcasing familiarity with pharmacy operations.
Knowledge of medication administration practices, ensuring safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
Attention to detail is essential for accurate dispensing and record-keeping.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to manage individual responsibilities effectively.
