Andrews Pharmacy was established over 30 years ago and now ?operates 4 pharmacies and a post office in the Macclesfield area. During this time we have developed innovative services to benefit the health of our local communities. Andrews was the first community pharmacy in England to give a Covid vaccination and we are continuing to expand our vaccination and health services.
This is an opportunity to join a busy vibrant business working within the community to help people find the health solutions they need based at both our Kennedy Avenue and London Road branches. As a Dispensing Assistant you would be a key member of the pharmacy team. You will be involved throughout the activity of dispensing prescriptions. This includes stock ordering, checking off orders and putting away, processing NHS and private prescriptions and dispensing prior to a check by a pharmacist. The role also requires a friendly nature, good administration skills, communication skills and a working knowledge of IT. You will also be required to provide health advice and sell medicines to our customers.
Training to NVQ 2 is provided for inexperienced staff.
The training that is provided covers both Medicine Counter Assistant and Dispensing Assistant role as part of NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services.
We are looking for someone to work 24 - 40 hours per week. This will include most weekday working and alternate saturday mornings.
This role will include working between our four branches.
Support will be available from the rest of the team and the Pharmacist in charge of each shop when it is necessary to refer a patient or ask advice. Pharmacy experience is not required as all training will be provided in house, however retail experience would be helpful.

Key role and responsibilities
Talking to customers to establish their health needs
Ensuring the shop is welcoming and kept clean and well presented
Advising customers about over the counter medicines
Completing a regular stock take and ordering stock where needed
Preparing and dispensing prescriptions
Checking medicines are in date
Helping to promote all pharmacy services including vaccination, blood pressure, minor ailments under the Pharmacy 1st scheme.
Helping to maintain a Healthy Living Pharmacy
Essential Skills, Qualifications and experience
Strong customer service skills - enjoys engaging with the public.
Flexible and practical - can put your hand to anything.
Keen to learn about new pharmacy products and services.
Trustworthy and understanding of confidential issues.
Willing to learn new skills.
Good organisational skills.
The ability to work under pressure and an eye for detail.
Previous Pharmacy experience is desirable.
Effective communicator.
A full UK driving licence is desirable to help cover other branches.
