We are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated, and practical people to join our friendly team in Pharmacy Preparative Services and complete a Level 2 in Science Manufacturing Process Operative Apprenticeship over 15 months.
You will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to learning and that you are able to plan and organise your own workload. Excellent communication skills, a professional attitude and patient centred approach are all essential for this role.
LTHT Pharmacy Preparative Services is one of the busiest such services in the UK. It provides vital Ready to Administer injectable medicines including Antibiotics, Chemotherapy, Nutritional feeds and Radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and treatment clinics.

Main duties of the job
You will be working in specialist clean room areas, gaining skills and knowledge to complete your apprenticeship. Youll be generating worksheets and labels, assembling and preparing injectable medicines, dispensing, receiving and distributing medicines and controlling stock. Youll need good manual dexterity, be able to concentrate and work accurately, whilst waiting PPE.
The post is full-time, working 37.5 hours per week. There will also be some Bank Holiday and weekend commitments. The role is offered under Annex 21 conditions. This means during your training period you will be paid at Band 2, and this will rise to Band 3 once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship.

Complete a 15-month Science Manufacturing Process Operative (SMPO) apprenticeship undertaking a Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practices for Pharmaceutical Technical Support Services. This includes competency-based training and assessment in the workplace and studying the underpinning knowledge requirements through an accredited training provider.
On completion of the apprenticeship there will be natural progression to a role at the full payment for the pay grade. Applicants who are already fully qualified will be paid at Band 3 on appointment.
Duties will predominantly include the aseptic preparation of medicines in clean room conditions, worksheet and label generation, assembly, dispensing and receipt and distribution of pharmaceuticals and stock control. There will be some clerical and cleaning duties.
The post holder will not have any line management responsibilities. They will assist with the induction, support, and training for Pharmacy Services Assistants and other staff as required to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rostered basis.
