Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician Apprentice
. This is a 24 month learning opportunity.
Responsibilities
and Learning Modules:
Ensuring Safe and Effective Pharmacy Services
Contribute to delivering safe and effective pharmacy services within the practice by adhering to professional guidelines and practice protocols.
Medicines Reconciliation
Undertake medicines reconciliation according to practice protocols and standard operating procedures to improve the efficiency and accuracy of prescription management.
Patient Interaction
Address patient enquiries in person and over the phone, escalating complex issues to the pharmacist when needed to ensure high-quality care and advice.
Patient Reviews
Participate in conducting patient reviews and updating patient records through in practice clinics, home visits, and visits to nursing and residential care homes.
Prescription Accuracy
This includes verifying the correct drug names, dosages, and forms, while also checking for potential drug interactions or contraindications. If any discrepancies are found, they work closely with pharmacists and healthcare providers to resolve issues.
Prescription Requests
Assist in the processing of electronic and repeat prescription requests, ensuring prompt and accurate prescription handling.
Special Medication Handling
Manage prescriptions for red drugs (Not recommended for prescribing in Primary Care), high-cost items, specials, and medicines with the potential for generic savings, ensuring proper handling and cost-efficiency.
Medication Audits
Participate in medication audits aimed at monitoring and improving prescribing practices, ensuring adherence to best practice guidelines.
Advice and Information
Provide informed advice and guidance to GPs, practice staff, and patients to promote safe, high-quality, and cost-effective prescribing that achieves the best outcomes for patients.
Budget Management
Assist in monitoring and managing the practice's prescribing budget, preparing evidence-based resources to support cost-effective prescribing strategies.
Medication Safety and Governance
Promote adherence to relevant medication safety guidelines and policies, contributing to the governance framework within the practice.
What are the eligibility criteria for PTPT applicants?
Applicants must:
Be aged 16+ (no upper age limit)
Have lived in England for 3+ years or meet eligibility criteria
Hold 4 GCSEs (A-C / 9-4), including English, Maths, Science, and one other Have a valid 30+ hour/week contract
Pass DBS, health, character, and reference checks
Complete 8 hours/week off-the-job learning
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: 14,918.00-15,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 38 per week
Work Location: In person
