About the Role
This two-year apprenticeship will develop your knowledge, skills, and behaviours across all aspects of community pharmacy. You'll support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred services while also undertaking structured off-the-job training with an external provider.
Primary Responsibilities
As a PTPT at Westwood Pharmacy, your duties will include:
Dispensing
prescriptions accurately under supervision, ensuring compliance with legal and clinical standards
Labelling, packaging, and preparing
medicines for supply to patients
Managing stock
including ordering, checking deliveries, and ensuring proper storage of medicines
Communicating effectively
with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, including providing advice on medicines (once trained)
Supporting the preparation of
monitored dosage systems
for vulnerable patients
Maintaining
confidential patient medication records
and ensuring data protection standards are followed
Dispensing and recording
controlled drugs
in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Learning to
accuracy-check prescriptions
(when eligible and accredited)
Promoting
public health services
such as smoking cessation, health checks, and vaccinations
Assisting with audits
, stocktakes, and other quality assurance activities
Adhering to pharmacy procedures, hygiene protocols, and legal regulations
Contributing to a positive team environment
and actively supporting service improvements
What You'll NeedEssential:
4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/Level 4 or above
, including:
English Language
Mathematics
Science
Fluency in spoken Bangla

Eligibility to undertake an apprenticeship in the UK (see: Become an apprentice - GOV.UK)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage study alongside work
Attention to detail and the ability to work safely and accurately
Good IT literacy and willingness to learn pharmacy systems
Satisfactory

Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail or healthcare setting

Training Provider
: External (distance learning with 1 day per week off-the-job study)

: 4 days per week, supported by the pharmacy team
Training includes both technical knowledge and professional behaviours
Once completed, you will be eligible to register with the
General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
