Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Community Pharmacy Dispenser/Technician Apprentice. This role offers a comprehensive training experience, equipping you with the skills needed to excel in clinical, retail, shop management, and customer service duties.

Key Responsibilities:



Clinical Duties:



Assist in the accurate preparation and dispensing of prescription medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Support the pharmacist in conducting NHS and private clinical services to patients, ensuring the process is completed safely and effectively. Learn to accurately interpret and process prescriptions, adhering to legal and regulatory standards. Must be willing to keep clinical knowledge and training up to date. Maintain up-to-date and confidential patient records, assisting in the management of repeat prescriptions and medication synchronization. Must be able to interpret data and problem solve issues following SOPs and regulatory guidelines. Work with other healthcare professionals to ensure positive patient outcomes.

Retail Duties:



Manage the pharmacy's stock levels, including the ordering, receiving, and organizing of pharmaceutical products, over-the-counter (OTC) items, and healthcare supplies. Familiarise and build relationships with wholesalers to get best deals. Ensure the pharmacy is well-organized, with shelves properly stocked, products clearly labelled, and expiration dates monitored. Assist in the merchandising of products, setting up promotional displays, and implementing seasonal health campaigns. Conduct stock audits and help ensure that expired or recalled products are removed from circulation according to guidelines. Meet daily and weekly NHS and private service targets.

Shop Duties:



Assist in the daily operations of the pharmacy shop, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Ensure that the shop floor is tidy, well-maintained, and fully stocked, providing customers with a pleasant shopping experience. Handle inventory management tasks, including unpacking deliveries, restocking shelves, and organizing storage areas. Collaborate with team members to maintain an efficient workflow, ensuring that all areas of the pharmacy run smoothly.

Customer Service Duties:



Deliver excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly, assisting with their inquiries, and providing knowledgeable advice on OTC medications and health products. Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, using the pharmacy's point-of-sale system. Address customer concerns and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner, ensuring a positive experience for all customers. Must be able to problem-solve any clinical or retail issue faced by customers or colleagues. Educate customers on the correct use of medications and health products, and promote health and wellness services offered by the pharmacy.

Qualifications and Requirements:



Minimum GCSE grades 5 or above in English, Maths, and Science. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused attitude. High attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment. A genuine interest in healthcare and a strong desire to learn and develop within the community pharmacy sector. Commitment to completing the apprenticeship training program and achieving the required qualifications.
