The Pharmacist Technician will be responsible for providing professional advice and support to the clinicians within Mendip Vale Medical Group (MVMG). Working to ensure processes are optimised to achieve highly effective, safe and patient centred care. You will support the Senior Clinical Pharmacist in delivering a safe, high performing; effective, sustainable, innovative person-centred medical service. The post-holder will develop good working relationships with: Patients GP, nurses and other practice staff Other local practices clinical pharmacists Community pharmacists and support staff Hospital staff with responsibilities for prescribing and medicines optimisation Members of the ICB's medicines management team.
Main Responsibilities:
To undertake a variety of duties, including managing repeat prescription requests, resolving queries within your span of control and providing prescripts for clinical review and signature. Updating dates following medication reviews. Facilitate and documenting correct addition & or removal of medications upon receipt of discharge summaries, secondary care or community clinic letters. Updating repeat medication list such as synchronising durations and removing medications not ordered within a defined period.
Other Responsibilities:
Provide independent information to patients with regard to medicines and prescribing changes, initiating further support from other healthcare professionals where appropriate. To review practice stock management and develop systems to improve processes. Analyse Practice prescription data to produce reports as requested. Participate in review and setting of policies relating to medicines management and prescribing.
Implement initiatives to reduce waste of prescribed medicines. Support and influence the Practice Clinical, Management and Administrative Teams to implement procedural and service changes relating to prescribing to ensure best practice is adopted in accordance with local guidelines, legislation, directives and safety updates e.g. NICE, MRHA etc. Contribute to the annual DSQS (Dispensing Services Quality Scheme) audit Mentor and supervise the training of non-clinical staff to achieve the dispensing assistant level 2 qualification for dispensing doctors.
Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
