Bosmere Medical Practice is a traditional family GP surgery located close to the beautiful South Coast and the South Downs National Park. We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable technician to help us deliver safe, effective and compassionate care to our patients.
About the Role
You will play a key part in our medicines management team, supporting clinicians, patients and carers to ensure safe and efficient prescribing. Your responsibilities will include:
Processing prescription requests from patients, care homes, pharmacies and GPs, ensuring routine requests are completed within 48 hours and urgent requests on the same day.
Re?routing urgent prescriptions to out?of?hours pharmacies when needed.
Responding to medicines?related queries from colleagues, patients and relatives via phone, email or face?to?face.
Reviewing hospital discharge summaries and outpatient letters, reconciling medications and resolving discrepancies.
Promoting safe medication use and supporting the reporting and prevention of medicines?related incidents.
Using your knowledge of GP prescribing systems and community pharmacy systems to troubleshoot issues and support staff development.
Contributing to clinical governance through the development of policies, protocols, SOPs and guidelines.
Supporting prescribing budget management through monitoring, audit and analysis of drug use, including awareness of QIPP and cost?saving priorities.
Working with pharmacists to review medications and recommend cost?effective, outcome?focused prescribing changes.
Undertaking additional duties as required by the partners or practice managers.
What We're Looking For
Essential
Current
GPhC registration
, with evidence of ongoing CPD.
NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF)
plus
Level 3 QCF Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science
, or a GPhC?accredited equivalent qualification (pre?July 2011).
Desirable
At least
1 year of post?qualification experience

Experience supporting patients with a range of clinical conditions.
Previous
patient?facing
experience.
Ability to work independently within professional boundaries.
