About the Practice/Department/Team

New Queen Street and Stanground Surgeries are located in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. This is a modern, forward thinking and cohesive eight Partner GP practice, offering compassionate personalised care and patient services to a list size of c.190000. Supporting the partners is a multi-disciplinary clinical team of nursing and associated health care providers and a large patient services team delivering reception, administration and care coordination roles.

There is a strong team ethos within the practice, which is described as non hierarchical, supportive, friendly, approachable, and caring. It is very important to the partners that this is maintained and developed. The practice believes in investing in development and training for its workforce and encourages professional growth.

Lakeside Healthcare New Queen Street & Stanground Surgery is part of South Peterborough Primary Care Network compromising of five practices across South Peterborough. Our aim is to provide exemplary patient care; finding innovative solutions in general practice to deliver the best care we can to our patients.

Job Introduction

Lakeside Healthcare is continuing to expand its team of Pharmacy Technicians across the organisation and its Primary Care Network member practices. We aim to build the largest Pharmacy Technician workforce in General Practice. We value the contribution that Pharmacy Technicians make within our multi-disciplinary teams, and we aim to continue to safely push the boundaries in-order to develop the Pharmacy Technician role.

Please note that the pay range is dependent on experience.

What you will do (not exhaustive)

Your role will be to predominately support our Pharmacists with Medicines Reconciliation and Medication Reviews. This is an innovative role to work within the Lakeside Healthcare Pharmacy team to ensure safe and effective use of medicines for patients within Lakeside Healthcare. As a starting point the role will initially focus on medicines reconciliation from clinic and discharge letters, and will develop further as the role of the Pharmacy team expands within the organisation. It is vital that effective systems and procedures are in place to ensure that this process is effective, safe and efficient. The right candidate will be involved in day to day management of this with regular and thorough reviews of all medications. The process also ensures that patients receive the appropriate monitoring necessary for the medication they are prescribed.

Essential Criteria

The ideal candidate will:

Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC Hold a BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences Experience of working as a Pharmacy Technician in community pharmacy Evidence of continued professional development Flexible and friendly Enjoy working as part of a busy team.
