As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will
Assist with the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high-quality prison pharmaceutical service, taking into consideration, at all times, the need to maintain a high level of security.

Main duties of the job
Medicines reconciliation Reviewing hospital discharge letters or outpatient clinic letters to ensure the patients medication records in the GP practice are accurate and up to date.Repeat prescription management Handling repeat prescription requests, checking they are valid, arranging any required review or monitoring, ensuring they are costeffective, and liaising with patients, GPs or community pharmacies as needed.Patient communication and support Responding to medicationrelated queries from patients, carers or staff (face to face or telephone), explaining how medicines should be taken, helping with adherence, and supporting shared decision making.Clinical support and optimisation Assisting with medication reviews (sometimes clinics), helping ensure prescribing is safe, appropriate and follows guidelines/formularies, participating in audits or safetyinitiatives (e.g. high risk medicines, reducing antimicrobial overuse).Record keeping & administrative tasks Updating patient records, coding prescription changes, transcribing from clinical letters, maintaining data accuracy, supporting repeat prescribing systems, following up monitoring obligations.Working within protocols Using standard operating procedures, practice / PCN / NHS protocols for tasks like shared care, highrisk meds, safety alerts, recalling medicines, etc. Referring to pharmacists or GPs when queries are outside scope.
