Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with the Practice Pharmacist, GPs, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines within the practice. You will play a key role in supporting repeat prescribing processes, medicines reconciliation, and medicines optimisation to improve patient outcomes and reduce workload pressures on the clinical team.
This role supports the delivery of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective prescribing, contributing to medicines safety initiatives, quality improvement, and compliance with local and national guidance. You will also assist in training and supporting administrative staff in the management of repeat prescriptions and medication-related tasks.
Main duties of the job
Repeat Prescription Management:Process and re-authorise repeat prescriptions in line with practice protocols. Resolve prescription queries and liaise with patients, GPs, and community pharmacies.
Medicines Optimisation:Conduct audits and reviews to ensure cost-effective prescribing. Support medication switches and deprescribing initiatives. Assist in implementing local and national prescribing guidelines
Patient Support:Provide information to patients on medication use and adherence. Support structured medication reviews and long-term condition management
Clinical Systems & Data:Maintain accurate records using electronic patient record systems (SystmOne). Generate reports and contribute to QOF and IIF targets
Collaboration & Communication:Work closely with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff. Liaise with community pharmacies and secondary care providers
