JOB PURPOSE:
To support the provision of safe, effective, and efficient pharmaceutical services in a community pharmacy setting by ensuring the accurate preparation, supply, and advice of medicines to patients and customers. The Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and in accordance with GPhC regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dispensary and Clinical Services
.Accurately dispense NHS and private prescriptions in line with legal and ethical guidelines.
.Assist in the preparation of monitored dosage systems (e.g. blister packs).
.Ensure appropriate labelling and packaging of medicines.
.Undertake accuracy checking duties if accredited (ACT).
.Support delivery of pharmacy services including NMS, BP checks, minor ailments, smoking cessation, etc.
CUSTOMER AND PATIENT CARE:
.Provide clear and accurate advice to patients regarding their medicines.
.Support customers with over-the-counter queries, referring appropriately to the pharmacist.
.Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional conduct in patient
Order, receive, and store pharmaceutical stock following standard procedures.
INVENTORY and STOCK MANAGEMENT:

.Ensure stock rotation to minimise wastage.
.Report and address stock discrepancies or shortages.
COMPLIANCE and GOVERNANCE:
.Adhere to GPhC standards and all relevant SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
.Support the pharmacy team in maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant working environment.
.Participate in audits, quality improvement processes, and risk management activities.
TEAM COLLABORATION:
.Work collaboratively with pharmacists, other pharmacy technicians, dispensers, and support staff.
.Assist in training and mentoring junior staff where appropriate.
.Attend staff meetings and training as required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
.GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician.
.Experience in a community pharmacy or similar patient-facing role.
.Strong knowledge of pharmacy law, ethics, and NHS services.
.Excellent communication and organisational skills.
.Competent in the use of pharmacy software systems (e.g. PMR systems like ProScript Titan Pharmacy Manager).
