Walton Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy technician to join our practice on a 12 month fixed term contract. This role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, with flexibility on days and hours.
Working within a well-established multi-disciplinary team, the successful post-holder will be responsible for the following duties;
Support the reception and administration teams, at our member practices, with complex medication queries.
Update patients records accordingly.
Support the GP partners on prescribing projects and cost/safety audits and actions.
Develop our prescribing systems to ensure safe, effective and efficient prescribing within the PCN.
Undertake medicines reconciliation.
Work with the dispensary team leader to contribute to the review and development of repeat prescribing protocols to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of repeat prescribing systems.
Provide advice to GPs, staff and patients in changes to prescribing to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality and cost effectiveness.
Participate in medication audits.
Prepare resources and information to support the implementation of rational cost-effective prescribing.
Support the clinical pharmacist to provide medication reviews, patient information leaflets, medicine awareness; and to undertake community visits as appropriate.

About the Candidate
To be considered for this position, you must have the following;
A good level of education, including Maths and English
Registered member of the GPhC
At least 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician
Experience of supervision/ leadership on projects
Experience of supervising staff desirable but this is not essential.
Experience of dealing with patients face to face in clinics as well as over the telephone and digitally
Experience of working within a diverse team with multiple disciplinaries and be able to liaise with clinical and admin staff with the practice
Experience of using computer systems including clinical systems, such as SystmOne and EMIS Web
Knowledge of law and guidelines around medicines and the Code of Conduct
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing as well as strong knowledge of a high level of confidentiality
Experience of liaising with the PCN Clinical Pharmacist and be able to escalate issues to them
