Summary

This is an internal only vacancy. We are calling for Expressions of Interest for our Photographic Services Assistant.

We are the nation\'s Archive of England\'s historic environment. We are open, relevant and reflective of all stories and places so we can better comprehend the historic environment and how it has shaped our rich and diverse cultural identities. We curate a dynamic collection that tells the story of the shared memories and lived histories of places in England.

What you will be doing

As a member of the Historic England Archive team (HEA), you will contribute to the better understanding of our collections - what we hold, its copyright and condition - and you will ensure that the content and assets are shared in accessible, inspiring and engaging ways with a diverse range of audiences. Through your work, you will also assist the delivery of material for the purposes of income generation and improved access.

You are responsible for providing assistance to the specialist Photographic Team, facilitating access to the Archive\'s holdings and supplying scans and prints to a wide range of internal and external users

What we are looking for;

Experience in Archives, arts and culture, photography, or related sectors

Experience of handling archive material in a wide range of formats

Experience of running a flowline of photographic orders and ensuring delivery of orders to customers within strict deadlines

Experience of digitising Aerial roll film and prints using specialised equipment

In depth knowledge of digitising using a specialist book scanner and large format scanner for a variety of archive material

Ability to communicate effectively and build good relationships with staff, managers and colleagues throughout Historic England
