PHP Solutions Architect - Enterprise Applications

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic PHP Solutions Architect to join our Solutions team, leading the design and evolution of enterprise-grade PHP applications. This role requires deep expertise in PHP, particularly with modern frameworks such as Laravel, as well as strong architectural vision, planning and leadership skills. You will be responsible for defining architectural roadmaps, coding and design standards, ensuring code quality and enabling teams to deliver scalable, high-performance applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the architecture, design and technical direction for enterprise PHP applications. Define and maintain best practices for PHP/Laravel development, scalability and maintainability. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews and performance audits to ensure optimal system health. Identify opportunities for refactoring, performance tuning, and modernization of existing PHP applications. Implement and oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies for PHP applications. Research and recommend new PHP-related tools, libraries and frameworks to improve delivery. Ensure security best practices and compliance standards are built into the architecture.
Experience:

Proven track record as a Solutions Architect or Technical Lead in PHP environments. Strong proficiency in PHP 8+ and modern Laravel versions. Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and DocumentDB. Strong understanding of cloud-based architectures, particularly AWS and/or Azure. Experience implementing TDD/BDD principles. Proficiency with Git and modern DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps). Experience with containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes. Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders across business and technical teams.
