Job Description


A new exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physician Associate with a keen interest in urgent care development, to join our team at OneMedical Group, working for our Co-Located Services within the Local Emergency Departments in Leeds. This is a new role due to the growth of the service and an enhanced model of care.

The Physician Associate (PA) main responsibility will be to provide medical care for the presenting patient from initial history taking and clinical assessment through to the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care, as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. Therefore, they will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, including assessment and diagnostic skills, leading to the delivery of safe care for all patients.

They will work collaboratively with the rest of the team to meet the needs of the patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures. The PA will provide a holistic and clinical service, with support from GPs as required, implementing agreed management plans and following approved protocols as appropriate.
Working with a dedicated supervisor, the post holder will work independently with appropriate support. The level and type of mentorship and supervision will be dependent on the post holder\'s skills and knowledge and determined by the organisation\'s clinical governance arrangements.

Key Working Relationships Summary

Clinical Service Manager: The PA will work alongside the Clinical Service Manager for the service, upholding clinical compliance, performing clinical audit and providing leadership and guidance.

Service/Operations Manager: The PA reports operationally to the Service/Operations Manager for operational matters such as rota planning, annual leave and sickness.

Hours: 40 hours/week available, 8 hours per day, 5 days over 7 (including rotating weekends)

The job holder must have the following knowledge, training and experience:

  • Member of Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes registration on the UK Physician Associate Register (The Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR)) until such time that the statutory regulation of PA\'s is achieved.
  • \xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8bPostgraduate Diploma/Master in Physician Associate (formally Physician Assistant) from an accredited UK University
  • Valid national certification and recertification every six years as stipulated by PAMVR
  • Desirable - Experience of working in an urgent care/walk-in centre
  • Minor illness/ acute care management
About Primary Care Co-located Services

Our Co-Located Services are based within the Emergency Departments at Leeds General Infirmary and St James University Hospital, part of Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.

The services are located either in or near to Leeds City Centre, has good public transport links and onsite parking.
