Job Description


As a physician associate working in primary care you will be involved with initial assessment taking medical histories examining patients initiating and interpreting investigations as appropriate developing management plans in consultation with the patients visiting patients in their home for assessment or treatment reviewing incoming clinical documentation reviewing daily pathology test results supporting with medication management and queries (within the scope of practice) assisting with vaccination programmes. Six months probation period
Main duties of the job

Clinical:

Provide the first point of contact for clinical queries from practice telephonists/receptionists

Be responsible for telephone and face to face triaging

Undertake urgent/same day/duty/out-of-hours clinics

Undertake home visits

Assisting with vaccination programmes during out-of-hours and weekends

Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis

Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly

Assess, diagnosis, plan, implement and evaluate interventions/treatments for patients with complex needs

Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug- and non-drug based treatment methods into a management plan

Initiate and interpret tests and investigations as appropriate

Initiate a management plan to include medication, assess for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice

Work with patients in order to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments

We are an independent GP Practice looking for a Physician Associate to join our vibrant and friendly team of health care professionals. We are committed to education, and we are affiliated with Kings College London Medical School and St Georges University, Physician Associate school. We are also providing training to GP trainees within the Enfield and Haringey VTS scheme.

The ideal candidate will be interested in developing further their clinical skills within primary care. We offer a generous package of induction, supervision and training with many tutorials and professional development meetings.

Our Physician Associates have routine and duty clinics, assess and perform home visits and play an essential part in the management of the administrative workload. We work closely with our Primary Care Network (PCN), so would expect that the successful candidate might need to participate in clinical activities within the PCN.
