Job Description

The Elms Surgery is a forward-thinking, well-established GP practice caring for approximately 9500 patients. We have a strong multidisciplinary team including experienced GPs, Physician Associates, Clinical Pharmacist, first contact physiotherapist, and social prescriber. Supported well by an friendly Admin & Reception team. We value continuity of care, clinical excellence, and staff wellbeing.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Physician Associate to join our clinical team. This role is ideal for a PA with solid primary care experience who is confident managing undifferentiated presentations and long-term conditions, with appropriate GP supervision.

Key Responsibilities



Independent management of acute and routine presentations within agreed scope Management of long terms conditions and chronic diseases (e.g. asthma, diabetes, COPD, hypertension, frailty, dementia, LD) Same-day and pre-booked appointments (face-to-face, telephone, and online) Requesting and interpreting investigations Developing and reviewing management plans in collaboration with supervising GPs Contributing to clinical decision-making within the MDT Supporting and mentoring less experienced PAs or trainees (if applicable) Participation in audits, QI projects, and practice development Accurate and timely clinical documentation using EMIS

Person Specification



Essential:



Qualified Physician Associate (PGDip/MSc) Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in General Practice Current registration with the GMC Evidence of ongoing CPD and appraisal Excellent clinical reasoning and consultation skills Ability to work autonomously with appropriate supervision

Desirable:



Experience running chronic disease clinics Experience supervising or mentoring junior clinicians Special interest or skills (e.g. minor illness, urgent care, women's health, elderly care, smear taker)
