Job Description

Therapies and Dietetics are seeking to appoint Band 5 Physiotherapists to our dedicated and enthusiastic team in a rotational position. Our band 5 physiotherapy 6 month rotations offer an excellent opportunity to gain experience across the whole patient pathway within both acute and community settings. We have a strong commitment for developing our staff; you will receive training and support to develop your professional, personal and clinical skills through clinical supervision, personal development reviews and in-service training. We offer a Band 5 development programme across all professions within Therapies and Dietetics to look at the wider NHS agendas and trust topics.
There is a flexible approach to service delivery which includes 7 day working, evening and weekend services within clinical areas. These differ between services and the successful candidate may be required to have a flexible approach to their working day, including weekends. Rotational physiotherapists are required to join the respiratory on-call team following completion of the comprehensive on-call training programme, with ongoing support from the team as required.
Ability to travel independently around Rotherham and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes (Adjustments can be considered in accordance with the equality act 2010) is required.

Main duties of the job

  • Musculoskeletal Outpatients. Receives referrals from GPs and provides clinics from several locations across Rotherham. Provides the opportunity to manage a variety of MSK conditions.
  • Orthopaedic Outpatients. Receive referrals from Orthopaedic Consultants Rehabilitation opportunities include a variety of rehabilitation groups and hydrotherapy sessions.
  • Orthopaedic Inpatients. Gain experience in the management of a variety of elective and trauma inpatients. You will gain experience in working closely with the wider MDT.
  • Rotherham Stroke Rehabilitation Team. Provides intensive rehabilitation to stroke survivors in both the acute and community settings. The team work as a part of a wider (MDT).
  • Health Care of the Older Person. Provides therapy to referred adults on the Medicine wards and covers the Acute Medical Unit as well as the Frailty Service, working closely with the Admission Avoidance Team.
  • Respiratory Rotation. Provides opportunity to work in specialties including Acute Medical Unit, Medical, Surgical and Critical Care areas .
  • Locality Rehabilitation Therapy. These teams offer personalised rehabilitation packages to individuals in various community settings and assist to prevent hospital admissions and accelerate discharges.
  • Community Paediatrics. Opportunity to work alongside senior therapists to treat children with long term neurological/ neuromuscular conditions in a variety of settings, including home, mainstream and special schools and clinic.
