Positive Steps Physiotherapy is a specialist provider of paediatric and adult neurological rehabilitation. We support clients of all ages to move better and feel stronger -- enabling them to do more of what they love. Our services are delivered across clinics, homes, schools, gyms, and virtual platforms throughout Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Shropshire

The Role



This role goes beyond clinical skill. It's about putting our values into practice, showing practical optimism, upholding patient dignity, and treating people, not just problems.

As a Physiotherapist at Positive Steps, you'll assess, plan, and deliver therapy for clients with neurological and/or paediatric needs. You'll have the autonomy to manage your own caseload across clinics, schools, homes, gyms, and virtual settings, with full support from an experienced, collaborative team.

You will also deliver sessions virtually, where appropriate, to support accessibility and continuity of care.

The post also includes mentoring responsibilities, guiding assistants, providing feedback, and helping create a workplace culture that values learning, trust, and shared expertise.

Key Responsibilities



Clinical Practice



Perform comprehensive assessments (in-person and virtual) of children and adults with neurological and/or developmental conditions, including complex presentations. Use clinical reasoning to develop and implement tailored, evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation plans. Deliver physiotherapy across multiple settings including clinics, schools, homes, gyms, and virtually (e.g., secure video consultations). Evaluate and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans accordingly within agreed timeframes. Communicate clearly and appropriately with clients and families, adapting to overcome communication barriers. Ensure informed consent is gained and maintained, including when working with individuals who may lack capacity. Work in accordance with safeguarding and legal frameworks.

Client Care



Support families and carers with guidance, reassurance, and appropriate education. Promote independence and active engagement with rehabilitation goals. Empower clients to participate in and understand their treatment plans. Respect client dignity, autonomy, and diversity throughout all interactions. Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in line with Positive Steps' ethos.

Collaboration & Communication



Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) including statutory and independent practitioners. Liaise with schools, carers, healthcare professionals, and community teams to ensure joined-up care. Promote and support the Positive Steps values in all external and internal communications. Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to Physiotherapy Assistants or support staff, ensuring interventions are safe, appropriate, and aligned with treatment goals. Oversee and review assistant-delivered therapy components to ensure consistency and therapeutic integrity. Offer training, supervision, and constructive feedback to support the development of assistant roles.

Health and Safety



Ensure client and staff safety in line with legal and professional standards. Comply with organisational Health & Safety Policy and report concerns or incidents. Use safe manual handling techniques and appropriate equipment during treatment. Conduct dynamic risk assessments in community and in-clinic settings. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain clean treatment environments.

Documentation & Administration



Maintain clear, accurate clinical records using TM3 (practice management software) or equivalent. Prepare reports, progress summaries, and other clinical documentation to a professional standard. Ensure all data management complies with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Professional Development



Maintain registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) including in-house training, external courses, and reflective practice. Take part in regular supervision and appraisal processes.

What We're Looking For



HCPC-registered Physiotherapist. Experience in paediatric and/or neurological physiotherapy. Strong communication skills and a genuinely person-centred approach. Confidence to work independently in clinics, schools, homes, and online. Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 20.00-25.00 per hour
