Communication To use basic communication skills to encourage patients to undertake their treatment programme, including patients with communication and understanding difficulties, e.g. dysphasia, dementia, learning difficulties, visual and hearing impairments, and those who do not have English as their first language and seek guidance from the Physiotherapists and wider team when necessary. To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues to ensure relevant information regarding patients status is reported back to the team. To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date patient-related documentation in line with legal and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy requirements.



To gain valid informed consent and have the ability to work, with the guidance of a Physiotherapist, within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. Service Delivery and Improvement Provide administrative support to the cardiac physiotherapy team, i.e.Cardiac class administration, registering new patient referrals, booking appointments, arranging interpreters etc Become familiar and use Trust IT systems Assist in the provision of a seamless Cardiac Physiotherapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation Service. To comply with all trust policies and procedures and the Health and Safety at Work Act, including adherence to Universal Precautions and Infection Control measures. To report all complaints, incidents and accidents to the immediate senior member of staff as soon as possible and document according to trust policy.



People Management and Development Participate in the planning and delivery of in service training Assist in the induction of new staff including demonstrating Functional Capacity tests, cardiac rehabilitation exercise routine and organisational/administrative tasks Adhere to Trust and departmental policies and procedures, inc. The Health and Safety at Work Act. .Patient Care Delivery To carry own caseload of patients with predictable conditions who require treatments. Involved in the Rehabilitation of patients using knowledge of exercise-based therapy techniques.



To take responsibility for ongoing assessment, treatment, and evaluation of referred patients within their scope of practise without prior consultation with a qualified physiotherapist. To assist nursing staff and therapists as required regarding day-to-day care of patients, e.g. transfers, maintaining hygienic environment. aids, resistance bands, sliding boards, floor pedals, and weights.



Read, monitor and safely disconnect / reconnect equipment, knowing when it is acceptable to do so to enable therapeutic treatment to take place in an appropriate setting. Be able to read and interpret monitored information to ensure patient and therapist safety during therapy session e.g. BP, HR, SaO2 etc. Be competent to set up and operate therapeutic and gym equipment in line with the Trusts Health & Safety Guidelines.



e.g. monitoring and maintaining the safety and condition of the equipment. Take leadership during tasks undertaken with colleagues e.g. functional transfers, general mobility, and gait re-education advice.



To work collaboratively with relevant Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Professionals (e.g. health care assistants, occupational therapy assistants, nursing staff, and Orthotists) to assist achievement of patient centred goals and maximising the patients potential.
