The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities


From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.


It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.


We are looking for applications from individuals who experienced PIP1 qualified Police Staff Investigators that either hold the relevant National Investigators Exam (NIE) or are committed to take and pass this within the next 6 months, or from those who are already PIP2 investigators who would like to transfer to Chichester CID - West Sussex.


This role is a varied, challenging, and sometimes tough but ultimately rewarding. You will work as part of a team to investigate serious and complex crimes, deal with victims, offenders and witnesses.


Bringing such offenders to justice is both challenging and rewarding.


If this is the beginning of your PIP2 journey, this a fantastic step to develop towards obtaining PIP2 accreditation.


Skills & Experience


You should have demonstrable knowledge to PIP Level 1 with the potential to reach PIP Level 2.


Your application should be no more than 500 words and should evidence the following: - A proven all-round investigative ability


Possess an analytical mind, a methodical approach and have attention to detail. The ability to effectively and efficiently handle and interview victims, witnesses and suspects. The rules of best evidence, investigate interviewing of both witnesses and suspects, case file preparation and an awareness of forensics. Key offences in criminal procedure legislation, including the PACE and CPIA The fundamental workings of the courts and the wider criminal justice system. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with people from all walks of life and communicate with them at a level proportionate with their understanding. The ability to work as part of a team The ability to work with other agencies and partners - Have excellent communication skills both written and orally Proficient is use of Police IT systems to enable crime investigation, evidence gathering, and case file preparation.
