Position: Pizza Chef

Hours: 36hrs per week over 5 shifts, Wed - Sun

Pay: 13.89-14.44 per hour

Pension: 5% Employers contribution.

Annual Leave: 32 days annual leave, increasing to 37 days in year two of employment.

Location: Polwarth Crescent, Edinburgh, EH11

Term: Permanent

About Coorie:



Coorie is our food-based social enterprise for Space @ The Broomhouse Hub. We have a permanent community cafe in the Broomhouse Hub, a well-established corporate catering business, and a thriving mobile pizza operation serving up across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.

As part of our mission to grow our operation we are taking on a permanent pitch within the kitchen of a well established community pub.

The Role:



The Pizza Chef will have an integral role in the set up of this new venture, giving the right candidate an opportunity to bring their creativity into the mix, and a chance to really make a difference to a developing a thriving social business.
They will be the face of Space's pop-up pizza kitchen, preparing and producing high quality pizzas in order to generate income and further our community-focused social enterprise.

Key Duties:



Prepare and cook high quality hand stretched pizzas Manage the general operations of the pop-up kitchen including managing stock levels, placing orders, reconciling daily sales reports, providing daily handover report to line manager and ensuring consistent delivery of a high-quality product and customer service Serving customers with a professional and friendly approach, looking for opportunities to maximise sales and tell the Coorie story Communicate with the bar management team to ensure a healthy professional relationship is maintained and all appropriate opportunities to promote Coorie are recognised Continually review the menu to keep it enticing whilst adhering to budgets, using sales figures and customer feedback to inform decisions Ensure food hygiene standards are upheld, including appropriate food preparation methods, cleanliness of all areas, COSHH, stock rotation and storage Carry out other duties within your skills set, as requested by the Line Manager or CEO

The right candidate for the role must have the following skills and experience:



Have demonstrable pizza making experience having worked at high volume (any style of pizza) Minimum 2 years' experience of working in a professional kitchen or catering environment Have strong cooking skills, able to follow recipes to produce high quality food Be comfortable with working alone and have the ability to use initiative and work without supervision Have the physical mobility to lift weight of up to 15kg, following good manual handling practices Have a calm and professional manner, be able to share knowledge, deliver clear instructions and give feedback in a supportive way Have a degree of flexibility around working hours to accommodate occasional events, which may occasionally take place out with standard operating hours Be able to demonstrate excellent customer service standards Have excellent English communications skills - spoken and written Hold a basic food hygiene certificate Have experience working within legislation and best practice that applies in professional kitchens e.g. Food Safety and HACCP Be prepared to live by our values and nurture a culture of compassion and kindness Have excellent interpersonal skills to naturally form and manage appropriate relationships with a range of people of all ages and walks of life Have a can do attitude, be adaptable and ready to embrace challenges Be patient and respectful of all people, whatever their background Be a role model for staff, volunteer and trainees Have appreciation for the impact of, and desire to work in, the Voluntary Sector
