The Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ) is a 3led HQ based at Northwood, responsible for the planning, delivery and sustainment of UK overseas operations. The HQ has approximately 500 personnel consisting of Military, MoD Civil Servants and contractor employees. The Mission Planner position sits within the J3 Division of PJHQ, delivering direct operational support on behalf of the Chief of Joint Operations (CJO) and the Defence Commitments Management Organisation (DCMO).

Job description
In the role of Mission Planner within the Storm Shadow Centralised Mission Planning Facility (SSCMPF), you will be responsible for providing technical, developmental, and contingent support to the Storm Shadow weapon platform. You will support the operational mission planning process, and with experience the management of mission planning-specific training requirements. Additionally, you will support PJHQ J3 Joint Effects in contributing to the future of long-range stand-off munitions, engaging with wider MoD departments and commercial industry partners to ensure cohesive development and operational readiness.
On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate with a wide range of whole-force personnel within the Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) domain. More broadly, you will engage with members of the Joint Effects community to provide expert advice and deliver the operational employment of the weapon platform. As a Mission Planner you will also offer domain-specific expertise on platform limitations.
On a monthly basis you will communicate and work with wider MoD stakeholders such as Defence Equipment & Supply (DE&S) and industry partners involved in ongoing sustainment and future development programmes.
The Mission Planner position is line managed by a Senior Executive Officer (SEO / C1) DSTL employee within the mission planning facility. Responsibility for task management/delivery is owned and delegated by Officer Commanding SSCMPF in all instances.

Person specification
The successful applicant will require the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with senior military officers both within the deployed and UK environment. Candidates are not expected to hold prior knowledge of ALCM Platforms or the mission planning domain; you will be provided with thorough in-depth training.
Essential criteria for this position include excellent communication skills, flexibility, and an ability to engage with complex operational concepts in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
