On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a P&L Management Controller (AVP) for an initial 12-month contract based in London (hybrid).

Purpose of the role:

  • Permanent control of the tasks performed by Global Markets P&L Controls teams
  • Production of key indicators to follow P&L completion and assess data quality
  • Maintenance and implementation of necessary controls and dashboards
  • Proposing new or reinforcing existing guidelines and best practices
As a P&L Management Controller (AVP), you will:
  • Promote excellence, implement and run a wide range of controls on daily and end-of-month tasks performed by P&L Controls teams
  • Develop and maintain tools and dashboards allowing to identify issues and errors which were not spotted by P&L Controls teams when performing their daily reconciliation and validation
  • Provide thorough analyses whenever required, relying on expertise and allowing the identification of opportunities to improve processes and quality of service to stakeholders
  • Review and update Best Practices, Standard Operating Procedures and Policies which aim to define the list of controls and provide guidelines for P&L teams and Controllers in order to report a correct P&L
  • Participate in identifying, raising, and prioritising issues affecting Official P&L, Step Reval and Risk-Based P&L chains with the aim to improve data quality, reduce operational workload and number of manual adjustments
  • Produce key indicators for P&L Management to follow Official P&L and Explains, P&L Production and ongoing issues
  • Maintain regular exchanges with P&L Controls teams and supervisors, IT, Quantitative Research, and Finance in order to work collaboratively and improve existing processes
  • Organise and deliver training with different locations and teams, whenever necessary
  • Act as the P&L SPOC for the reconciliation and production of risk metrics
  • Establish strong relationships with Front Office and other stakeholders in order to understand needs and provide an appropriate level of support
What we\'re looking for:
  • Knowledge of specific operational processes allowing a good understanding of Front-to-Finance procedures, best practices and needs
  • Broad experience working in a control function within an investment bank
  • Experience in project management / exposure to project processes
  • Knowledge of instruments traded as well as exposure to other asset classes
  • Good theoretical knowledge of derivative pricing
  • Working experience with P&L explains (Step Revaluation as well as Risk Based Explains) and good knowledge / understanding of risk factors
  • Ability to translate detailed knowledge and experience of specific processes into recommendations to improve team operating practices
  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail and able to review and improve work of more junior colleagues
  • Excellent written and oral English skills in order to articulate technical issues and to be able to take the complex and make simple to enable effective communication with the business
  • Good stakeholder management skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Computer literacy and a good knowledge of standard computer software and able to learn and utilise specialist applications appropriately
