Spartan UK Ltd, part of the Metinvest Group, is a leading quarto steel plate re-roller, supplying customers in the UK and Northern Europe with a wide range of steel plates suitable for application in numerous industrial sectors, such as construction, bridges, wind turbines etc. Employing 121 people in the 200m turnover business they have achieved record breaking results in recent years.

Due to changes within the Operational function of the business the above position has become vacant.

Job Overview

The role will report directly to the Senior Planner and is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the planning department ensuring that operational objectives are met. The role briefly comprises -

Liaising and specifying slab requirement to the Port of Sunderland

Booking in and the planning of slab to meet operational and customer needs

Monitoring and recording of daily yield performance.

Bottleneck monitoring and servicing operational demands

Ensuring that furnace loading in terms of available planned slabs is met.

Checking and verifying orders

Answering commercial enquires.

This broad spectrum of responsibilities is expected to be learnt over time for which the motivation and desire to learn are key prerequisites for any suitable candidate. Additionally, it is expected that suitable candidates should have knowledge of the following -

Competent in Mathematics

Competent with computers (especially Excel)

Ability to work alone

Be prepared to work appropriate hours to ensure business needs are maintained.
