The Planning and Controls Leader will drive project controls activity for GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage businesses in North Europe.


Focusing on the development and management of the Planning and Controls team, this role is critical in ensuring that robust planning, cost control, and risk management practices are implemented and maintained across all projects.


The successful candidate will work with project, engineering and sourcing leadership to ensure alignment on project objectives, drive excellence in planning, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. They will both lead the team to deliver the Planning and Controls activity, and work as part of the team with hands on planning and project control.

Develop and Lead Planning & Controls Team:



Lead, train and mentor a team of project planners, ensuring they have the necessary skills, tools and processes to succeed, and fostering a high-performance team culture. Manage planning priorities with key stakeholders, to ensure optimal resource utilization and project support. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Planning and Control processes, benchmarking against industry standards, and incorporating lessons learned from previous projects.

Planning and Scheduling Excellence:



Standardize and implement best practices in project planning, scheduling and tools, to ensure a consistent approach across the project portfolio. Drive the team to deliver integrated schedules to support both commercial bids, and project delivery aligned to customer, supplier and internal project timelines.

Cost Control and Earned Value Management (EVM):



Support existing cost control activity, driving the team to track cost forecast / actuals, assess variance, analyse delay, and recommend corrective actions. Implement EVM to enhance visibility of project health.

Change Control and Risk Management:



Implement and oversee structured change control processes to manage scope changes and their impacts on cost and schedule. Ensure the team proactively identify and manage risks across project schedules, including "what-if" analyses, maintenance of risk registers, and mitigation plans to address potential delays.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:



Foster collaboration between project teams, suppliers and leadership to align expectations, resolve issues, and ensure seamless project execution. Present project performance updates, including schedule status, cost control metrics, and supplier progress, to senior leadership. In collaboration with procurement, establish clear communication channels with suppliers to align and monitor progress of schedules, milestones and deliverables.

Required Qualifications:



Extensive experience in project controls (cost & risk management), planning, and advanced scheduling techniques. Proven ability to train, mentor, and manage planning teams in a fast-paced, complex project environment. Proficiency in planning and control tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and financial systems (e.g., SAP). Strong understanding of supplier management, including contract terms related to scheduling and performance monitoring.

Desired Characteristics:



Expertise in change control, risk management, and EVM within large, multi-stakeholder projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams. Familiarity with ISO9001 standards and quality management systems. Results-driven mindset with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.

Work Environment:




This role is based on site in the Power Conversion & Storage facility in Rugby, and occasional travel may be required to engage with customers, suppliers, support project teams, and collaborate with regional offices in the UK (Portsmouth, Glasgow, Leicester, Swansea).
