Each day is different and for the Planning and Shipping Coordinator role you will need to be flexible, and willing to help your fellow team members as well as working to identify opportunities to continually improve the way we do things.

The Planning and Shipping Coordinator will have end to end responsibility for the planning of loads coming into the production site, how orders are planned into the production schedule, communications back to customers regarding due dates and any issues, and then for organising loads being dispatched back out of the warehouse to customers. It is a key role and is absolutely central to the lean and efficient running of the factory and warehouse both.

This role will involve working closely with the Shift Manager and Warehouse Supervisor to balance goods-in, goods-out and the production schedule to maintain factory efficiency and balance customer expectations whilst maximising the available storage space. The role will require a high degree of IT / technical competency to operate the companies MRP software and practical experience and understanding in a transport planning / warehouse or Production planning role to grasp the complexity of a manufacturing site of this size and scale.

The Planning and Shipping Coordinator will have the opportunity to guide and implement planning and operational decision making, whilst still supporting the day-to-day activities at site. The right character fit for this role is someone who has some planning experience ideally in a warehouse, dispatch or production space and is looking to step-up in their career for complete end-to-end planning responsibility. You should be strongly self-motivated, adaptable, an effective problem solver and willing to get stuck in understanding the system and working closely with the team to get the best output.

Key Behaviours and Skills:



Ideally 2+ Years Experience of working in a busy transport planning, warehouse dispatch planning or production planning role. Ideally within the food industry (Long shelf-life) or other FMCG industry. Excellent written and spoken communication, with confidence to liaise directly with customers, suppliers and drivers organising bookings. A good understanding of Warehousing principles (First in First Out, stock rotation, weighbridge operation.) Able to demonstrate operating in a values led business focused on people and service to customers. Able to demonstrate clear understanding and interpretation KPIs / Targets. Be able to demonstrate flexibility, reliability and enthusiasm for the role.

Key Responsibilities:



OPERATIONS

- Ensuring that the flow of goods into the business, through processing and out of the business is smooth, efficient and well-coordinated.

Responsible for the organisation of customer loads being booked in to the warehouse and unloaded ensuring the daily inbound schedule is created and updated, and shared for the subsequent days deliveries in. Planning the stock to be processed onto the Factory Schedule, assigning stock to the production runs and issuing production job sheets to the Shift Manager. Overseeing warehouse space utilisation and maximising value to customers and the business by evaluating short- and long-term stock-holding on site, looking at what products can be moved off-site for long term storage or returned to customer to ensure a continuous supply of free-space. Organising with the customer stock collections, providing booking references and ensuring that workload is correctly managed, is achievable and communicated to the Warehouse Supervisor. Organising additional labour resources as required to support the unloading of hand-stacked containers depending on demand. Operating the weighbridge, booking in vehicles as they arrive to site and providing instruction to drivers. Supporting the Implementation and operation of a new warehouse management system alongside the Warehouse Supervisor, Shift Manager and Factory Manager. Supporting with general customer requests, updates and administration as required to ensure the smooth operation of the office and broader business.
