The Role


Are you organized, proactive, and eager to develop your career in manufacturing planning? We are seeking a dedicated Planning Assistant to join our team on a 1-year fixed-term contract. In this dynamic role, you will support the Planning Team with essential administrative and system tasks, help ensure the smooth and timely production of our products and collaborate closely with production and management teams to resolve issues and prevent delays. You will play a key part in attending daily planning meetings, maintaining critical data logs, preparing insightful reports, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting both the planning process and the wider business to achieve operational excellence.


Responsibilities

Assist the Planning Team with day to day administrative and system tasks. Assist the Production Planner to ensure the timely manufacture of all products, including checking raw material availability for shop orders, releasing shop orders into production and reserving product to customer orders for picking and packing. Liaise with Production Team Leaders and Managers in relevant departments to problem solve and avoid delays in the production process. Chair and/or attend daily Planning meetings to review status of orders, materials and quality releasing. Producing and maintaining various data logs and documents, such as Product Structure Amendments, Artwork changes, Call- Over list for QC, Scrappage log, Meeting logs, Concessions, etc. Review internal document approvals for planning department, such as Artwork, new parts migration, etc. Prepare, extract and analyse KPI's, reports and data for the Planning department and provide updates. Reviewing, maintaining and updating the Planning departments SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures). Maintaining production standard ops upon requests (emails from production). Provide backfill for the Production Planner role (when needed). Support the Planning Manager and wider business with additional tasks and projects to ensure optimal efficiency is achieved within the manufacturing facility. Create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, constantly challenging current working practice.

Qualifications:

Experience of working in a manufacturing industry is preferred but not essential. Experience of MRP or ERP systems is preferred but not essential.

Skills and Competencies:

A competent level of knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is essential. Must have a "can-do" attitude and a positive approach to problem solving. High levels of organisational skills, attention to detail, and strong administrative experience is essential.
