Join our Outage Planning Department as a Planning Engineer, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and secure operation of SPEN's Distribution network. This is a high-impact role focused on technical excellence, strategic planning, and collaboration across system users. What you'll be doingResponsible for the co-ordination of all system users and network outages impacting the distribution network from two years ahead to day ahead timescales to a high technical standard.
Responsible for establishing an optimum level of pre-arranged IIS penalties against the need to carry out works on the distribution and transmission networks, providing workable recovery plans to the control room where appropriate in order to minimise potential IIS penalties
Co-ordination and liaison with business areas across Energy Networks to understand implications of proposed works, driving to develop and implement contingency works to appropriately mitigate risk from distribution and transmission projects
Establish and maintain excellent relationships with major customers.
Intervene when necessary to ensure planning, safety and customer service standards are not compromised
What you'll bringEngineering qualification, degree level/HNC with significant relevant experience
Relevant similar experience in an operational role
Working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices.
Committed to achieving the highest standards of customer service
Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
Knowledge of network and business data and network management systems.
Working knowledge of the relevant regulatory documentation.
Awareness of network development policies and procedures.
Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.
Developed customer service skills.
Expert knowledge of the application of System Security Standards and the interplay with system capability elements
Broad operational experience preferred, e.g. spanning Distribution/Transmission and possibly generation.
Good understanding of the Company Safety Rules and supporting procedures for working on HV electrical equipment.
Expert user of PowerOn and PI systems
Working knowledge of power system analysis tools and techniques demonstrating a detailed understanding of load flow and contingency analysis
