We are seeking a proactive and skilled Equipment & Site Maintenance Technician to take ownership of the maintenance and upkeep of our key heavy equipment and site infrastructure. This role includes developing and implementing planned maintenance schedules to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of our operations.
Job description
Planned Maintenance Management
Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance schedules for:
Telehandler
Overhead crane
Boat hoist
Other workshop tools and systems as needed
Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, and repairs.
Monitor equipment performance and adjust maintenance plans accordingly.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Equipment Maintenance
Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
Coordinate with external contractors for specialized servicing or certification.
Site Maintenance
Conduct general maintenance of workshop and yard facilities, including:
Lighting, plumbing, and basic electrical systems
Doors, gates, fencing, and walkways
Drainage and waste management systems
Support seasonal and ad hoc maintenance tasks (e.g., vegetation control, weatherproofing).
Assist with infrastructure improvements and minor construction projects.
Operational Support
Undertake operational supporting activities such as:
Daily van collections from local suppliers, and between company sites as required
Overhead crane lifts
Parts movement with the telehandler
Work alongside stores to offload deliveries using the telehandler when necessary
Requirements:
Experience in mechanical or facilities maintenance, ideally in a marine or industrial setting.
Familiarity with digital planned maintenance systems and scheduling tools
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Basic knowledge of building systems and general site upkeep.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Valid driver's license and telehandler certification
Location
The place of work is normally Southwest Shipyard, Ponsharden, Falmouth TR11 2SE or Mylor Creek Boat Yard, Mylor Bridge, TR11 5NS. You should be flexible to work at either location as required.
Salary
A competitive salary, dependent on skills/experience. The starting salary will be discussed at interview.
Overtime may be available at 1.5 times hourly rate.
