As the Plant Control Engineer you will be working within a centralised functional team, reporting to the EC&I Manager, to manage, maintain, develop and improve all control systems on assets across Wilton site. The role plays a key strategic part within the functional Engineering team to support business development, projects and asset management across SEUK Wilton site.


The Plant Control Engineer will be a credible, commercial and strategic professional with excellent communication, presentation, influencing, problem solving and analytical skills as well as a high concern for standards and a results focused approach.




Key Roles and Responsibilities




Positively promote and encourage a safety-first culture.

Assist SEUK asset teams with control system faults, troubleshooting, and breakdowns.

Provide governance for all control systems to ensure compliance with British and International standards.

Act as the system specialist for all control systems across site assets.

Support projects and business development by: Reviewing and approving documentation throughout the full project lifecycle. Attending HAZOPs/LOPAs to offer expertise on key process safety requirements. Liaising with third parties on technical queries and specification support.

Ensure contractors:
o Follow safe systems of work in compliance with internal and external engineering standards.

+ Are managed effectively when working on site control systems, with work reviewed and authorised.
Provide technical support for Root Cause Analysis (RCA), including:
+ Implementing corrective actions.
+ Updating processes and procedures as necessary.


Offer 'out of hours' support to the shift operations team on a reasonable endeavours basis. Ensure equipment obsolescence and lifecycle are reviewed and documented, including: Managing OEM/vendor contracts for control systems hardware and software.

Follow SEUK's Management of Change (MOC) process during initiation, design reviews, and technical approvals.

Create, develop, and review: SEUK EC&I management procedures, ensuring alignment with UK legislation and group standards. Maintenance procedures, technical specifications, and guidance documents to industry best practice.



Qualification, Skills and Experience




Essential


A bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

Significant experience and previous Engineer position held in heavy industry.

Good understanding of UK legislation and British & International standards.

Understanding of MOC process.

Experience of specifying, reviewing, modifying and testing software application.

Control system lifecycle experience.

Comprehensive knowledge and experience of control systems and their application in heavy industry (Emerson Delta V / Siemens experience is required).

Experience of fault finding / troubleshooting control systems is essential.

A full driving license and right to work in the UK is required.



Beneficial


Leading and/or providing technical RCA support.

Experience of providing technical input to HAZOPs/LOPAs.

Basic understanding of cybersecurity requirements for industrial assets.

Knowledge and understanding of network architecture and associated equipment.

* Experience with other PLC's and industrial communication protocols.
