The main purpose of the job will be the purchase and hire of tools, plant and equipment as necessary. To ensure that the maintenance of all tools, plant and equipment is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation and to assist in the reduction of vehicle and plant downtime through due diligence, continuous improvement initiatives and all health and safety requirements.
Duties
1. To ensure that all activities associated with the maintenance activities are carried out according to safe working methods and best practice procedures. Identify areas that can be improved and report to the Plant & Transport Manager.
2. Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in construction volume.
3. To carry out planned preventative maintenance and breakdowns as required.
4. Administrating a preventative maintenance programme for all tools, plant and equipment.
5. Maintain a plant and equipment maintenance record.
6. Demonstrate initiative by constantly looking to see where improvements can be made.
7. To ensure that all plant, machinery and tools are inspected regularly according to manufacturer's recommendations.
8. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
9. Continually improve and encourage good health and safety practices in and around the workplace, raising health, safety and environment matters with management.
10. Liaise with plant fitter for the up keep of plant and maintenance records.
Skills
Excellent organisational skills with a focus on detail.
In-depth knowledge of transport regulations and compliance standards.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Full UK Driving License.
Problem-solving mindset with the capability to handle unexpected challenges efficiently.
Self organising and prioritising - job holder should demonstrate the ability to organise their work in such a way that tasks are completed accurately and on time.
