Job Description

Job Purpose:



To carry out plastering and rendering repairs and maintenance across a portfolio of social housing properties, including both occupied and void homes. The role requires a high standard of workmanship and the ability to respond to tenant and property needs efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:



Undertake plastering work for reactive maintenance, including repairing and skimming walls and ceilings, patching holes, and applying render where required. Carry out work on both internal and external plastering, including re-skimming, plasterboarding, and installation of render finishes. Respond to both minor and major plastering jobs, ensuring that repairs are completed to a high standard and within time constraints. Prepare surfaces before applying plaster, including cleaning and ensuring proper bonding of materials. Work in occupied properties, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants and maintaining a professional, customer-friendly approach at all times. Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including the correct use of PPE and adherence to risk assessments. Accurately record the completion of jobs and any materials used via job management systems or manual paperwork. Liaise with residents, housing officers, and supervisors to arrange access and provide updates on progress. Assist in other minor multi-skilled tasks where required, such as basic painting, tiling, or minor repairs. Ensure that all plastering work meets the necessary regulatory standards and company quality requirements. Take part in emergency call-out rota (if applicable), providing out-of-hours plastering repairs when required.

Skills and Experience:



Essential:



NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plastering or equivalent experience. Proven experience in plastering, particularly in a responsive maintenance or social housing environment. Ability to carry out both patch repairs and full plastering/boarding works to a high standard. Understanding of relevant health and safety practices, especially in occupied homes. Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:



Experience working in the social housing or domestic repairs sector. Asbestos awareness and manual handling training. CSR card or equivalent site safety certification. Experience using digital job management tools and handheld devices.

Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Strong communication skills, especially when dealing with tenants and other team members. Flexible and adaptable, able to take on additional duties as required.
