Planet Sport Group are looking for an expert platform engineer who has experience in helping support a full "DevOps" engineering function using tooling and frameworks designed to remove friction in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate will have great experience of being a developer in an environment that looks to establish great "DevOps" processes. You will also have some experience in building developer tools and processes in a similar environment and be experienced in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in a production environment.
Experience of working in serverless technologies in the AWS ecosystem (fargate, lambda, event bridge, app sync, et al) is also highly desirable, as is any exposure to any other major cloud providers.
The key experiences for this role are as follows:
Application programming language (e.g. rust, C, C++, java, .net)
Scripting language (e.g. javascript, python)
Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure, Digital Ocean etc)
Strong DevOps principals & practices
Containerisation & CI/CD workflows
Creating & Supporting developer tooling
Ability to work with engineering and product stakeholders
Experience in coaching junior members of a team and helping to drive overall technical decisions is also highly desirable.
You will be a keen, enthusiastic individual who is looking to drive their career forward in a dynamic, nimble, fast-paced environment. A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies is essential and the ideal candidate will have this desire at the core of who they are. Excellent communication skills are essential, as supporting the development and adoption of new tools and ways of working and taking people on this journey will be a core part of this role. We believe that everyone has valuable knowledge to share and has the opportunity to grow; this approach is at the heart of our culture.
Technical excellence is a must, but we also value pragmatism and operate utilising the idea that making small, incremental improvements every day drives long-term progress, rather than striving for immediate perfection.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, independent thinker who can identify what needs to be done and take initiative to get those things done effectively, without requiring constant guidance. The ability to communicate the work that has been carried out is crucial to ensure we all learn and continually improve as a wider team.
