The Role
We are seeking an outstanding, experienced
Play / Art Therapist or Music Therapist
who is passionate about working with vulnerable children. Integrating therapeutic interventions with creative, recreational, and developmentally appropriate activities.
You will:
Provide individual and group therapy sessions using play, art, and/or music as your primary modality, tailored to the therapeutic goals of children in our care.
Work with children who have experienced trauma, neglect, and attachment disruption; support their emotional regulation, self?esteem, resilience, social skills, and relationship building.
Develop and deliver structured recreational, expressive, and creative activities (e.g. music, drama, craft, movement, gardening, games) that support wellbeing, group cohesion, social skills and emotional growth.
Liaise closely with the residential care team, other therapists, education, social work, and external agencies to embed therapeutic care across all areas of the child's day.
Maintain accurate clinical records, produce therapy plans, regular reviews, progress reports and contribute to case conferences.
Participate in supervision (clinical and reflective), professional development, and team meetings to ensure best practice, safeguarding, and holistic care.
What We Are Looking For
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
A recognised qualification at postgraduate level in Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy or equivalent,
and
current registration with the relevant professional regulatory / accreditation body (e.g. HCPC, BAPT / PTUK / equivalent).
Significant post-qualification experience working therapeutically with children and young people, especially those who have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties, or complex emotional / behavioural needs.
Experience of designing and delivering group and individual therapeutic sessions; able to adapt approaches to the needs of each child.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate across care, education, health and external stakeholders.
Reflective practice, resilience, good self?awareness, and ability to maintain professional boundaries.
