Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Play Leader to join our wraparound care provision at our Higham Ferrers schools from September 2025. The provision offers wrap-around care via breakfast and afterschool clubs for children aged four to eleven. This will be extended to include holiday care from Easter 2026. You will need to be passionate about providing stimulating, age-related play opportunities for our children and be able to manage a team.

The Play Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the provision and ensure it operates according to school policy, health, safety and hygiene standards, providing good quality out of school supervision and care for children aged 4 to 11 years.

The successful candidate will,

Take overall responsibility for the planning, preparing and delivery of quality play opportunities and activities within a safe and nurturing environment. Have experience of leading a team. Develop and implement educational activities that foster childhood development. Be responsible for help plan and purchase appropriate refreshments and help with the preparation of food and drinks. Ensure compliance with childcare regulations and maintain high standards of care. Build trusted relationships with families and community stakeholders. Oversee staffing, logistics, operational planning and day-to-day delivery across settings. Have experience of financial planning.

Hours of work

: 25 hours per week (07:15 - 08:45am and 3:00 - 6:00pm), 38 weeks per year increasing to 51 weeks per year at Easter 2026. The provision will be open from 07:45am and will close at 5:45pm. This includes 2.5 hours a week of administration time which can be taken flexibly.

Salary:

Grade F, Point 6-7, 25,989 - 26,403 FTE (Pro rata, per annum). This equates to 13.47 - 13.69 per hour.
