We are looking for bubbly, enthusiastic After school Play Workers to

deliver fun and engaging activities for children aged 4-11 years.

Positions Available: After school Play Workers

Dependant on age and experience ranging from 7.50 to 14.00
Salary Details: per hour.

Hours between 3.00pm and 6.00pm 5 days a week

We are recruiting for people to join our existing Kaleidascope Kids Afterschool Club and to help provide an exciting range of activities during school term times.
If you are enthusiastic about supporting the growth of young children, this might be the ideal role for you. We require staff who can provide inclusive and engaging activities that are full of fun and inspire children to explore their interests both indoors and outdoors.
You would be delivering a range of activities that are sometimes associated with a theme for the week. This could include art and crafts, storytelling, singing, dancing and other musical activities. Group games, woodland walks and a range of other physical activities will also be planned that help the children to get outdoors, explore and have fun.
The positions would be suitable for college students as well as more experienced people or someone working in primary/nursery education e.g. Teaching/Nursery Assistant, looking for additional hours during school term time.

Main responsibilities:
To deliver programmed activities that are engaging, fun and that provide purposeful experiences for the children within stimulating environments.

To assist the existing staff to deliver quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment ensuring regular head counts are completed. To help set up the play areas for activities, rotate and clean resources and ensure a range of toys and games are available and ready for use. Provide a healthy range of food and snacks daily To ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child. To follow and work within the framework of kaleidascope Childcare policies and procedures, for example, undertake Health & Safety checks as needed during the day. To facilitate good communication with all members of the organisation, parents and children within our care. To provide for the daily needs of the children, including their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development. To administer basic first aid when necessary. Undertaking appropriate and relevant training. To ensure that all children/young people on their arrival are welcomed and eel comfortable and valued enabling the development and improvement of self esteem self-confidence and positive experiences. To report any safeguarding or child protection concerns to the DSL
Lead/Deputy.

To understand and to respect the statutory staff to child ratios.
Person Specification
Essential

Early Years or Play Work or relevant qualification Level 2 or 3. (or working towards). Understand the varied needs of children and their families. Provide and facilitate safe and creative play. Be reliable, flexible in your approach and possess excellent communication skills. Able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative. Sound judgment and common sense.
Desirable

Experience of working within a play-based setting. Basic food hygiene minimum level 2. Understanding the issues involved in the delivery of quality play care. Understanding the issues of equal opportunities.
