- Playworker
Responsible to: Room Leader and Operations Manager
Objectives
To provide before and after school care for children aged 4 to 11 years, which offers a safe, creative and stimulating environment.
Tasks and Duties
To assist the Room Leader with ensuring that the play environment, including equipment and resources, is prepared and ready for the arrival of children.
To co-ordinate with the Room Leader in both individual and group activities for the children and to ensure that they are adequately supervised.
To enable child-centred play in a structured and relaxed environment maintaining overall quality of care, supporting children to engage in a range of play opportunities allowing for safe risks and challenges.
To be aware of the needs of all children and assess their development through play, particularly those of minority ethnic groups and with disabilities.
To develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families and other team members on a day-to-day basis especially regarding children's welfare.
To take any action required to ensure the safety and welfare of children and to report any concern immediately to the Manager.
To maintain children's safety and wellbeing at all times during attendance at the play setting and on trips including ensuring the security of the building and reporting any problems as appropriate to the Senior Playworker.
To ensure that the scheme's Equal Opportunities policy is implemented and that careful thought is given to providing an inclusive environment for all.
To the best of their ability ensure that the requirements of Ofsted and the Children Act are adhered to.
To implement the Health and Safety policy of the scheme; be responsible for the safe and appropriate use of resources and equipment and to notify the Senior Playworker of any repairs required.
To ensure that all rules and instructions regarding children's attendance at BRAC are adhered to.
To undertake any other duties as reasonably directed by the Operations Manager or management committee.
To work within agreed policies and procedures at all times.
To attend relevant meetings and identified training.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check arranged and paid for by the company.
The hours of work are 3pm- 6pm for afterschool club session, 7.30am-9am for Breakfast Club, 8am-6pm for Holiday Club.
And Holiday Club which runs from 8am - 6pm during school holidays.
We prefer that staff work the same shifts every week to give consistency to the children in our care.
