Player Manager - Padel People Shepton Mallet
Location: Unit 1 at Bradfords, Evercreech, Shepton Mallet
Employment Type: Full-time (45-50 hours per week)
Salary: 25,000 - 30,000 per annum depending on experience + 4 per hour commission on all off-peak doubles court bookings Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
About the Role
We're looking for a community-focused go-getter to transform and head up our new Padel People venue at Shepton Mallet.
Key Responsibilities
Off-Peak Revenue Generation - Primary focus: Drive off-peak court utilisation - Develop and execute strategies to fill daytime and early evening slots - Create attractive off-peak packages and promotions - Track and report on occupancy improvements - Earn 4 per hour commission on all off-peak doubles court bookings you generate - direct reward for your success!
Community Vibe & Atmosphere -
Be the face of Padel People at Shepton Mallet - create that welcoming energy
- Host social events, mini-tournaments, and "taster sessions"
- Manage and grow our WhatsApp community groups
- Welcome newcomers and help them feel part of the padel family
Networking & Partnership Building
- Attend local networking events to promote padel and build connections
- Reach out to schools - arrange visits, demos, and youth programmes
- Connect with other sports clubs - tennis clubs, fitness centres, leisure facilities
- Build relationships with local businesses for corporate bookings
- Identify partnership opportunities with hotels, spas, and sports venues
Marketing Collaboration
- Work closely with our Head of Marketing on local campaigns
- Provide on-ground insights for social media content
- Support brand awareness initiatives in the local area
- Help create authentic, community-focused content
- Represent Padel People at local events and activations
Operations Support
- Ensure excellent customer experience during peak times - Be "on-call" to help with any keypad entry issues
- Handle basic court maintenance and equipment management
- Manage booking queries and resolve customer issues
- Support membership sign-ups and renewals
- Ideally run 14 hours of classes during the week. We can hire professionals to support this if needed.
What We're Looking For
- Natural networker who loves meeting new people
- Experience in community building, sports development, or business development
- Comfortable presenting padel to groups (schools, clubs, businesses)
- Social media savvy with authentic engagement skills
- Flexible schedule - willing to attend evening networking events
- Driving licence essential for visiting schools and partner venues
- Passion for sports and creating inclusive communities
Bonus Points For
- Experience in racket sports (tennis, squash, badminton) - ideally padel
- Event management or sports coaching background
- Existing connections in the local area/business community
- Experience working with schools or youth programmes
Compensation & Benefits Package
- Base Salary: 25,000 - 30,000 per annum (based on experience)
- Commission: 4 per hour on all off-peak doubles court revenue you generate
- Holiday Entitlement: 28 days per annum (including bank holidays)
- Sick Pay: Statutory Sick Pay as per UK employment law

- Notice Period: 1 month during probationary period, 3 months thereafter
