Assist with software design and programming as required as part of company procedures on a variety of different hardware systems
Manufacture, modify and/or carry out diagnostic maintenance and repairs of electrical/electronic control systems and peripherals either as stand-alone systems and/or to compliment any pneumatic/hydraulic/ Mechanical system(s) designed built or modified by the company as the company requires.
Visit customer sites, company branches, and other unspecified destinations as required as part of company operations and role requirements. This to include site working involving overnight stays away when required both UK based and/or occasionally abroad.
Carry out system and software design and programming procedures on a variety of different manufacturer's hardware platforms. This to include industrial plc, hmi, and scada systems as well as mobile controllers and other programmable devices.
Produce accurate design drawings & records of works completed and ensure company records of design builds and/or modifications are amended accurately and kept up to date.
Take a lead role in the execution of company business ensuring that company standards and integrity of work are maintained. This includes project management when required/designated.
Ensure process and standards are in line with current guidelines
Provide technical support when required to support the works of junior electrical engineers, other trades, contractors and staff as and when the business needs demands.
Ensure that work is carried out in line with the company's procedures and quality standards and complies with all current European/National electrical standards and codes of practice.
Ensure that all produced items/builds etc are supplied in an aesthetically correct manner and comply to current legislation, standards and codes of practice.
Prepare test schedules for company engineers to be able to fully test designed and manufactured goods/systems and provide support if required during test and commissioning procedures both within the works and/or in the field.
Be willing and capable of working in a hands-on practical capacity when necessary to assist the company and customers with system survey work, specifying goods and services, fault diagnosis and setting systems to work as well as supporting in house engineers as and when required.
Ensure all works and projects are completed on time, within budget and to the customer's satisfaction.
Provide technical advice & guidance to the company's internal & external sales & engineering teams.
Liaise with clients, suppliers and/or sub-contractors as necessary throughout the design and manufacturing processes and whole-life cycles of products supplied and/or supported by the company.
Assess prototypes for correct fit and function and make amendments as required
Assist the Engineering Director and Operations Manager in ensuring that the company's engineering standards are maintained to the highest level.

Liaise directly with customers as required to ensure their requirements are interpreted accurately without delays.
Assist with and when called upon, take responsibility for other projects which engineering personnel may be asked to undertake including hands on as a lead engineer.
Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met & that all relevant risk assessments and accurate method statements are completed for all site project work.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:-(Knowledge, skills, experience)
A completed recognized industrial electrical systems apprenticeship to HND standard or better together with extensive relevant field experience.
A thorough knowledge of the practical design, manufacture, assembly and use of industrial, marine and commercial vehicle electrical control systems, components, and wiring.
Ability to read, interpret and use electrical schematic diagrams to assist in diagnostic and or maintenance works.
Ability to read, interpret and use P&ID schematic diagrams to assist in diagnostic and or maintenance works.
Ability to confidently and safely work on legacy systems where no supporting documentation may be available and which the company may or not have had any previous dealings with.
A thorough understanding of hard-wired relay logic systems, industrial motor controls, pumps and valve systems, analogue and digital techniques, electro-proportional control, lighting,
A good working knowledge of all motor types, both DC and AC, their applications advantages/disadvantages and uses.
A thorough understanding of the dangers of working with low to medium voltage (<600 Volt) electrical supply system, both AC and DC, single and poly-phase and how to minimize the risks associated with working with these systems.
A good understanding of the dangers of working with pressurised fluid systems, both pneumatic and/or hydraulic (oil and other mediums) and how to minimize the risks associated with working with these systems.
A thorough working knowledge of proprietary industrial PLC and other logic-based control systems, their design, maintenance and software programming. Be confidently able to use diagnostic software tools to maintain, modify and upgrade systems as required.
A good working understanding of standard fieldbus technologies (particularly CAN), analogue and digital sensors, valves control techniques, basic electronics, and PCB design.
A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems using them would be highly beneficial
A good understanding of general mechanical engineering manufacturing practices and procedures would be beneficial.
